Period Drama Reviews... from a Christian Perspective

Here I have attempted to present a Christian perspective on some of the period dramas that I have watched. I hope these reviews will be a help to you. If you have any questions or concerns, please comment and let me know! :-)

Coming Soon:

Bleak House (2005)
Mansfield Park (2008)
The Scarlet Pimpernel (1982)
Sense and Sensibility (1995)
Sense and Sensibility (2008)
Wives and Daughters (1999)
...and more

If you would like me to review a certain period drama film, drop me a comment! (I can't guarantee that I've watched it though... I haven't seen all the films there are to see yet! :-) )

I really like these reviews, the way they're structured and how they point out things I might be bothered by when watching these films, while bringing out their positive aspects as well. And not forgetting to enjoy them. :-) Many reviewers who take their job seriously forget about that...

So I can't wait for the others - particularly Luther, because it's one of the few I've really seen - I'm curious to know what you thought of it!

I love the movie Luther. I just found your blog so I will try to find the review.

I think a review of Pride and Prejudices 1995 and 2005 would be interesting. =)

Also, I see there's a BBC Robin Hood TV series, but I haven't been able to find out whether it's any goodt. Do you happen to know? =)

I appreciate your reveiws very much! Thanks for taking the time to write down your thoughts for those who are interested in period dramas and appreciate knowing which ones are worth watching. :)

God bless!

Melody, Yes, I do need to write a review for both the 1995 and 2005 P&P! Those would be fun to write. ;-)

I haven't seen the BBC Robin Hood series, so I'm afraid I can't give any review on that. I'll try to write down my thoughts when I do see it though!

Elinor,
I am so glad that I found your reviews; in the three of your reviews of which I had already watched the movies, we are in agreement on almost every detail. And you have emboldened me to watch "Our Mutual Friend."
This prompts me to ask that, if you have opportunity, you would share your thoughts on a new version of Jane Eyre that has recently come to theaters. Jane Eyre was a favorite book (and heroine) of mine. The film caught my attention because it seemed as if it might be a faithful adaptation.
Thank you for the time and thought you put into these reviews. And I must say, what an enchanting idea to name yourselves after the Dashwood sisters (also favorites of mine.)

Kayla,
I am so glad the reviews have been helpful to you! I've become rather lazy about writing reviews, but your comment has made me want to write more. :-)
I'm keeping an eye on the theatres list to see if the new "Jane Eyre" will be in my area. If it is, I'm going to try to go see it and write a review on it. :-D It looks really good!

I would love it if you could do a review of the 2008 BBC Sense and Sensibility. I have never seen it but would like to if it is good. I have heard that it is good, but I have also been told it is not so I would love your Christian perspective on it! Thanks!
